The tradition continues as Halo 4 will offer up a Special Edition. First one to do so was Halo 2 with its metal tin case. Halo 3 stepped things up by offering a Legendary Edition, Halo: Reach followed by doing the same. Each of those editions came with plenty of extras and they also came with a hefty price tag of over $100 dollars. Fast forward to 2012 and 343 Industries has now announced a Halo 4 Special Edition, it will retail for $99.99. Not to hefty of a price for some extra goodies any Halo fan would appreciate. And it also seems that there won’t be a Legendary Edition, so no special helmet or statues of Master Chief, bummer, I know.
Anyone can pre-order the newly announced edition from now on. If you do you’ll get plenty of great extras, especially for the multiplayer part of the game which is called “Infinity”, making the upgrade to the Limited Edition well worth it. You’ll receive three competitive map packs, each releasing sometime after the launch of Halo 4. So you will get 9 maps in total, just for getting the Limited Edition. You also get yourself six “Specializations” early on. They will be available from the start and can be used one-by-one “to achieve higher ranks in your Spartan career.” By ranking up you’ll also unlock new customization options for your Spartan.
To help you further your customization of your Spartan you’ll also receive the “UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet” as part of the Limited Edition. It gives you access to a Spartan armor customization schematic, a background on UNSC weapons, an insight to one of humanities newest and greatest ships, The UNSC Infinity.
Apart from all the multiplayer extras you’ll also get a few others. One being the Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Special Edition. It’s a 90-minute extended video of the live-action digital series set at the beginning of the Human/Covenant war. It will feature Master Chief and the future leader of the UNSC Infinity. And that’s still not all. You’ll also get some in-game Spartan IV armor skin, a weapon skin for your Assault Rifle, and a spiffy in-game emblem. Of course there will also be a Spartan IV armor set for your Xbox LIVE Avatar, how could there not be, right?
It’s all plenty of great content for a mere $99.99 and makes choosing which edition to get much simpler. Halo 4 will be out later this year on November 6th. Below is the awesome picture of the Limited Edition box, check it out!
