Whats that? You say Digital Distribution is the wave of future, of course because that means there will be no limitations to how many copies of a game become available. Oh wait, BioWare says that’s not the case. They will be putting a limit on how many physical and digital copies are available of Star Wars: The Old Republic during it’s release. This is kind of surprising and at the same time how they explained it makes a bit of sense.
They reason why they chose to limit available copies of the game is so they could put quality first over quantity. When the game launches later they don’t want users dealing with trouble connecting to the servers or any other problems that could result from tons and tons of people trying to connect and play.
This move makes sense, but it also gets me really nervous. It should help them keep up with all the strains their servers will experience, so it should make for a better experience altogether. At the same time this does make me worry that I might not get a copy of this game and will have to wait a few weeks after launch to play. If that’s the case then BioWare should know I’ll be checking out Word of Warcraft while I wait for my copy of The Old republic to become available.
