With ever increasing interest in Sony’s PS Vita, two rumors are surfacing.

First is the notion that PS Vita will see an October 28 release. The date was spotted in an ad from BlockBuster in the UK. Speculation is that the ad may in fact be a fake but it sure does look legit. Check it:

IGN UK reached out to Sony for confirmation but the only word received was that PS Vita will receive a “phased global release.” At this point only time will tell when we’ll have the PS Vita in out hands.

Second is the rumor that Sony will be giving away Dev Kits for the PS Vita for free. This is not entirely true. Rubicon Developers have received a free Dev kit from sony. The reason being Rubicons work on Great Little War Game, a title that was originally planned for release on the PSP. With Sony’s focus shifting to the PS Vita and it’s supposedly closer release date, they gave Rubicon the kit to reduced losses from moving the game to the platform. Steve Haggerty had this to say:

“We’ve worked with Apple, and you can’t get anything out of them. Microsoft rarely responds and I suppose Nintendo are okay, but Sony are always there to help. They always get back to you.”

It still remains to be seen if this will be trend with independent developers and Sony.

Here it is, my friends: The new Street Fighter X Tekken Character Teaser Trailer.  This can only be one person; that lovable old bear.  The friendly ursus with the claws built for carnage.  I think he will make a great addition to Street Fighter X Tekken. I am always a fan of the big slow characters that can deal serious damage.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings has been pushed back to 2012. Although you may be upset, CD Projekt Red actually welcomes it. Red has decided to use this time to add more polish to the game. The delay is attributed to the distribution rights battle between Namco Bandai and CD Projekt Red. Until things are settled, Red has decided to be proactive and increase the quality of the game overall. So, look for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings sometime next year.

Blizzard has announced an auction house component in Diablo III that allows players to earn real money on the loot they have gathered in-game. This is a decision that is sure to make waves in the MMO industry.

Over the years, players have found ways to increase their wealth by many ways other than actually working for it. In MMOs, it’s no secret that there are many, many, many ways to cheat the economic standards set by the developers such as paying a company real world money for in-game gold(gold farming), alternative currency methods and in the case of EVE Online, extortion. Some of these activities can lead unsuspecting gamers to fall victim to scams and suffer the woes of identity theft. Blizzard hopes to cut down on economic “grieving” by providing a safe and secure method of using real world money through Battle.net.

Blizzard will release two auction houses Diablo III, one for in-game currency and one for real world money. To make it even more appealing, the entire process will be streamlined. The auction houses will be accessible from anywhere in the game. All players have to do is select the item they want to auction off from either their currently used character or from the their storage which is linked to all of their Battle.net characters. From there, players will be able to decide if wish to auction the item for in-game gold or get the money; dollar dollar bill y’all!

There are two ways to use the real world currency:

One is to tie it to your Battle.net account and not “cash out”  your earnings. Instead you can use the money to pay for a subscription to another popular franchise, World of Warcraft, grab some premium items, or pick up that copy of Starcraft II you’ve been eyeing.

The other is to use a third-party payment system to actually cash out your auction earnings and donate it you your favorite gaming blog 8-bit Playground. You don’t have to if you don’t want to. We just figured you’d like to help us out a little and not spend it on something selfish like food and nourishment for your body. But hey, it’s your money, you do what you wan with it.

Blizzard has yet to name which third-party payment company they will partner up with but our guess is PayPal.

Oh, and have no fear, Blizzard will be getting a cut. You didn’t really think they were giving it away did you? No exact fees have been outlined but Blizzard has said that it will charge a “standard transaction fee” for all dealings in the real auction house. Remember, the first goal of any company is to make money.
